The Pond

If you are passing by this pond
,
sit by me and take your time....

Why "Pond of the Moment"?

The word "hozche" which is the name of this blog is a Farsi (Iranian/Persian language) word, which means "Small Pond".

"Pond of the Moment" is a verse from a poem by famous Iranian poet Sohrab Sepehri. In one of his poems he said: "Life is swimming in the pond of the moment" which is a word by word translation. Sometimes it is difficult to translate a Farsi poem to English as there are lot's of metaphors in Persian literature and poetry. What he means though is that life is enjoying this moment that we're living in, enjoying this specific moment in time.

I picked this name for my blog after I visited an art gallery a long time ago. The painter who was exhibiting her works told us about some of the classes that she organizes and in one of them she asks all the students to paint whatever comes to their mind at that moment. It was right there that I decided to start a blog for writing whatever comes to my mind. I picked the name "Pond of the Moment" for my blog as not only Sohrab Sepehri is my favorite poet but also I do believe in living in the moment and enjoying those little things that pass by us everyday at certain moments in time, just like the beautiful poplar tree that I'm looking at through the window at this moment.

I would be grateful if whenever you pass by this pond, sit by it and let your thoughts get reflected in it. Thank you for stopping by.
